A Study of Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy for Outpatients with Bipolar Disorder

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if interpersonal and social rhythm therapy for patients who have bipolar disorder can be delivered in the formal program group psychotherapy format of the outpatient mood program.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

Adult
Age 18 to 65 years
Confirmed diagnosis of Bipolar disorder in a depressed phase
Referred for Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy

Exclusion Criteria

Active psychosis, mania, actively suicidal, suicidal ideation, or substance abuse
DSM IV TR personality disorder diagnosis that upon review of the electronic medical record is the primary reason for psychiatric treatment
Unstable or acute medical condition
Inability to speak English
Inability or unwillingness to provide informed consent
