A Study of Neurodevelopment of Children Exposed to Anesthesia Compared to Those Not Exposed to Anesthesia

About this study

In this study, we are comparing the performance of children who did and did not receive anesthesia before their third birthday on tests of cognitive skills such as memory, attention and planning/organization

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Children born from 1994 to 2007 who are currently local residents  
  • Children who received general anesthesia prior to the age of 3 (i.e., prior to their 3rd birthday) and who will be between the ages of 8-12 or 15-20 years during the testing period of 2012-2016
