Scoliosis Shared Decision Making

About this study

Analysis of video encounters between providers, patients, and families will be used to develop a shared decision making tool for patients deciding between surgery and observation for scoliosis treatment.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria - Patients:

  • Scoliosis curve ≥ 40 degrees, ≤ 70 degrees.
  • Age > 10 years old.

Exclusion Criteria - Patients:

  • Non-ambulatory scoliosis patients.
  • Age 9 years and under.

Inclusion Criteria - Parents & Clinicians:

  • English speaking.

Exclusion Criteria - Parents & Clinicians:

  • Non-English speaking.
