Placental Deiodinase Activity in Thyroid Hormone Resistance

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the placental D3 activity in a woman with RTH and compare to women without RTH because we believe this may be a potential mechanism which limits fetal thyroid hormone exposure.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Pregnant
Healthy women with no history of thyroid disease who deliver their babies at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Exclusion Criteria:

History of any thyroid disease.
Any use of medications which could affect thyroid function tests.
Any pregnancy complications.
Labor and delivery outside of Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
