Study the Variations in the Humoral and Cellular Immune System in Healthy Volunteers

About this study

Study the variations in the humoral and cellular immune system over time (longitudinally over 2 years) in normal healthy volunteers.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Age
    1. Longitudinal Study: 18 years of age and older
    2. Healthy adult subjects

Exclusion Criteria: 

  1. Currently pregnancy or pregnant within ---- from enrollment and baseline blood draw. 
  2. Disease state
    1. Malignancy (squamous cell and basal cell of skin allowed)
    2. Autoimmune disorders
      1. Ex Rheumatoid arthritis
      2. Type I diabetes
  3. Adults lacking capacity
  4. Not willing to sign consent form
  5. Medications
    1. Immunomodulatory agents
    2. Steroid use within 6 months to study entry
    3. NSAID (greater than 400 mg/day)
  6. Planned move within 24 months
  7. Allergic Reaction within prior 21 days that required medical intervention: oral agent or hospitalization.  (May disturb baseline immune state.  Not exclusionary once first time point collected.)
  8. Infectious Disease within prior 21 days (May disturb baseline immune state.  Not exclusionary once first time point collected.)
    1. Common cold
    2. Flu
    3. Pneumonia
    4. Essentially all infectious agents regardless of requirements for treatment.  Contact Drs. Jacob or Dietz with questions.
    5. Exclude if greater than 5 infectious illnesses in last 12 months  
  9. Subjects that have an antibody incompatibility at the time of their baseline testing or develop an antibody incompatibility.
