Violent Patient Simulation Drills to Enrich RN-MD Collaboration

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if interdisciplinary simulation training (IST) improves self-reported and observed RN/MD group cohesion and collaboration/satisfaction.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Hospital Internal Medicine (HIM) physicians and Department of Nursing Registered Nurses employed to serve violent patients on to work on the Complex Intervention Unit (CIU).

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Any RN or MD who has participated in simulation scenarios focusing on RN/MD collaboration with a violent patient will be excluded from the study.
