Burden of Treatment (PETS) Aim 2, Step 3: Validation of the Pilot PETS Performance Measure

About this study

The overall purpose of this project is to derive, validate, and assess feasibility of a performance measure that assesses patient treatment burden.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Patients are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • English-speaking
  • Diagnosed with 2 or more chronic conditions from a pre-specified list of 20 chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, arthritis, COPD, hypertension)
  • At least 2 visits with a primary care provider within the last 18 months

Exclusion Criteria: 

Patients are ineligible if they meet any of the following:

  • Patients with severe cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia, stroke)
  • Patients with other conditions that may make it difficult to complete a survey (e.g., psychoses)
