Patient and Caregiver Experience of Bone Marrow Transplant

About this study

The purpose of this study is to collect both survey and qualitative data from patients and caregivers in order to obtain descriptive data necessary to formulate and develop future empirical studies and intervention efforts that address bone marrow transplant (BMT) patient/caregiver well-being.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All participants will be adults >21 years of age, English speaking, and have phone and internet access.
  • Caregivers are eligible to participate even if the patient is not interested.
    • Likewise, patients are eligible even if their caregiver is not interested.
  • There will be no restrictions based on type of cancer that the patient has.
  • It is possible that a caregiver or cancer patients may be pregnant.
    • Pregnant women will not be specifically targeted for this research, but they will be given the same opportunity to participate or refuse participation.  Incarcerated patients or caregivers will not be included. 

Exclusion Criteria:   

  • Unable to consent for themselves 
  • Under age 21
