A Study of the Frequency of Kidney Stone Formation in Liver Disease Patients

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare the frequency of occurance of kidney stone formation in liver disease patients compared to the general population.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

Cases
- Patients who have been diagnosed with liver disease
- Seen at MCF between 01/01/2002 and12/29/2014
Controls
- Patients without a history of liver disease
- Enrolled in the Mayo Clinic Biobank between 01/01/2002 and12/29/2014

Exclusion Criteria

Cases
- Patients with dementia or severe disability
- Refused research authorization
- Unable to complete a short questionnaire due to mental incapacity
Controls
- Patients with history of liver disease, dementia or severe disability
- Refused research authorization
- Unable to complete a short questionnaire due to mental incapacity
