The Development and Testing of a Shared Decision Making Encounter Tool for Weight Management Decisions

About this study

The aim of this study is to develop, in close collaboration with stakeholders, an evidence-based decision aid to inform discussions regarding the treatment of obesity (Obesity Choice).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients
    • Adults ≥ 18 years
    • Appointment for starting/revising obesity treatment
  • Clinicians
    • Clinicians who meet with patients for starting/revising obesity treatment
  • PAG Members
    • Adults ≥ 18 years
    • Member of the KER Unit PAG

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients
    • Major barriers to providing informed consent (i.e. dementia, severe hearing or visual impairment)
  • Clinicians
    • None
  • PAG Members
