A Study to Assess Neurological Worsening in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Using Cerebral Oximetry

About this study

The primary purpose of this study is to monitor patients with acute ischemic strokes who receive reperfusion therapies (tissue plasminogen activator, mechanical thrombectomy or both) with non-invasive cerebral oximetry to (rScO2) assess if changes in rScO2 can predict changes in clinical neurologic examination.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

Adults, defined as 18 years of age or older.
Men and women.
Ischemic stroke diagnosed on CT head or MRI brain.
Patients eligible to receive intravenous alteplase or mechanical thrombectomy or both.

Exclusion Criteria:

Age less than 18 years of age.
Patients with CNS malignancy.
Patients with ischemic strokes that were not eligible to receive either intravenous alteplase or mechanical thrombectomy or both.
Patients that receive Tpa but do not have documented evidence of ischemic stroke on MRI brain or CT scan.
Stroke mimics like migraines, TIA, multiple sclerosis.
