A Study to Improve Proper Disposal of Unused Opioid Medications After Surgery

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of education for proper disposal and rate of utility of disposal bag.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Female patient >18 years old.
  • Ability to provide informed consent.
  • Planned surgery with the Department of Gynecology.
  • All surgeries will be included of which opioid use. postoperatively is necessary.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Non English speaking.
  • Planned use of only non-opioid medications postoperatively.
  • No planned postoperative visit.
