A Study to Evaluate Arterial Mechanical Properties with Ultrasound-based Methods

About this study

The purpose of this research is to use new ultrasound-based methods to measure the mechanical properties of arteries.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • The subjects will be between 40-90 years old for both genders.
  • Post-menopausal women.
  • Subjects must be able to provide written informed consent.
  • See CVDRF-MRI for expanded inclusion.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Potential subjects will be excluded from participation if they are younger than 40 years old
  • Unable to provide written consent, or if they belong to a vulnerable population such as neonates, children, pregnant women, and prisoners
  • Subjects with a BMI > 40 will be excluded. Subjects with a history of bariatric or carotid surgery will be excluded.
  • Subjects with a history of heart arrythmias will be excluded.
  • See CVDRF-MRI for restricted exclusion.
  • Exclude amputees of full limbs, below joints and digits.
