Bone Health in Patients with/without Adrenal Disease

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine prevalence and incidence of osteopenia, osteoporosis, and fractures in patients with adenomas based on hormonal sub-type, and to determine the effect of abnormal steroid metabolome on bone density, bone metabolism, and fractures.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult ≥ 18 years old.
  • Diagnosis of either of the following conditions:
    • adrenal adenoma;
    • macro- or micronodular hyperplasia with available or planned dexamethasone suppression test result;
    • ACTH-dependent Cushing syndrome;
    • No adrenal disorder (as referent subject).
  • Ability to provide consent.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Individual < 18 years of age.
  • Inability to provide consent.
  • Exogenous Cushing syndrome,
