A Multi-Center Study Assessing the Safety, Satisfaction, and Feasibility of Providing Acute Care Hospitalization at Home for Adults

Overview

About this study

The overall purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of providing adults with hospital care at home for acute medical conditions compared to hospital care in a traditional brick-and-mortar setting.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

ACH vs BAM

  • Ages 18 and older at the time of hospital admission.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.
  • Admitted to ACH:
    • Matched BAM patients from same geographic site.

ACH Refuser

  • Ages 18 and older.
  • Ability to read and understand English language.
  • Eligible for ACH but refused.
  • Able to make decisions about their care.

ACH Staff

  • Mayo Clinic staff who participate in the care of ACH patients.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Under age 18 at the time of enrollment.
