Predictors of Inflammatory Arthritis in Patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Psoriasis

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to identify the incidence and prevalence of inflammatory arthritis in patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) and compare them with those in patients with psoriasis through implementing a routine screening. Identifying the incidence and prevalence of this comorbidity has the potential to increase awareness across the specialties of rheumatology and comorbid diseases.

The aims of this study are to determine the frequency, severity, and duration of symptoms of arthritis in patients with HS and compare them with those in patients with psoriasis, to determine the association between inflammatory arthritis and disease flare-ups/severity in HS, to investigate impact of inflammatory arthritis on the quality of life and mental health of HS patients, and to determine the association of inflammatory arthritis in the context of other systemic inflammatory diseases (inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), etc.) in these two-patient population of psoriasis and HS.
