About this study

The purpose of this study is is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of telehealth for increasing access to bariatric surgery and compare outcomes to patients who receive F2F visits.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:  

  • Meet medical necessity criteria for primary bariatric surgery and reside in FL.
  • Can participate fully in all aspects of the protocol and keep scheduled appointments.
  • Have in home access to telehealth.
  • Provide written informed consent.
  • Are willing to accept randomization.
  • Have a primary care doctor to facilitate local testing in preparation for bariatric surgery.   

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • < 18 years of age.
