About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of a whole food plant-based diet on postprandial sleepiness by Epworth Sleepiness Questionnaire  

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18-70 years of age.
  • Sleepiness after eating lunch.
  • ESS score ≥ 3 for answering the question about these two situations: ‘sitting quietly after lunch without alcohol’ and ‘lying down to rest in the afternoon when circumstances permit’.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Diabetes.
  • Pregnancy or lactation.
  • Current use of a vegan/plant-based diet.
  • BMI ≤ 22.
  • Iron deficiency.
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency.
