Assessing Breast Cancer Risk Perception in Hispanic, Black, and Black Hispanic Women

About this study

The purpose of this study is to understand how women of color from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds conceptualize their current and lifetime risk for breast cancer (BC) and to identify which risk factors most resonate with perceptions of BC risk.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Self-identify as female.
  • All racially/ethnically diverse women from the Mayo Clinic FLA and Mayo Clinic AZ cancer center catchment area.
  • Between the ages of 18 and 50.
  • No medical history of breast cancer.
  • Reside in the MCF and MCA catchment area (see study population description above).

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Unable to understand or comprehend English or Spanish.
