Overview

About this study

Thr purpose of this study is to create a database of clinical information and a repository of biological specimens for genetic, molecular and microbiological research to better understand obesity and changes with treatment to more accurately predict the outcomes of endobariatric and other therapies and to help develop new therapies.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients at ages 18 to 99 years old. 
  • Individuals with obesity (BMI > 30kg/m^2) being evaluated for medical, endoscopic or surgical treatment of obesity
  • Individuals without obesity (BMI < 30 kg/m^2): these individuals may include ethnically, gender and/or age matched control subjects; or environmental controls without obesity
  • Venipuncture is feasible (health, access and/or tolerability) for requested blood sample(s).
  • Individuals have agreed to participate and signed the study informed consent form.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals who do not meet study inclusion criteria.
  • Individuals who have not agreed to participate and have not signed the study consent form.
