About this study

The purpose of this study is to objectively and reproducibly determine candidates’ physical appearance using a previously validated artificial intelligence (AI) tool applied to their Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) professional portrait; measure the correlation between attractiveness ratings and number of residency program interview invites across candidates; propose changes to make the residency match process more equitable for candidates.

 

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Applicants ≥ 18 years of age.
  • NRMP applicants who applied to Mayo Clinic ACGME-accredited residency programs.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals under 18 years of age.
  • Fellowship applicants.
  • Non-ACGME accredited residency program applicants.
