Assessing the Relationship Between Intolerance of Uncertainty and Satisfaction With Treatment Decision for Non-obstructing Kidney Stones

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and satisfaction with treatment decision for patients with non-obstructing kidney stones.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • At least one renal stone between 5 mm and 10mm found on imaging.
  • (CT, X-Ray, ultrasound).
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Capacity to make their own medical decisions.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Able to complete two surveys containing 42 questions each.
  • Willingness to participate and able to provide informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Obstructing stone.
  • Stone > 10mm present.
  • Concurrent urinary tract infection.
  • Pain related to kidney stones.
  • Other circumstance necessitating surgical intervention.
    • cluding pain not attributable to a specific cause, which study staff deems as potentially related to kidney stones.
  • Other circumstance necessitating surgical intervention per the provider’s discretion
  • Pregnancy.
  • Stone procedure within the last six (6) months on the ipsilateral side of current qualifying stone(s).
