Using a Digital Phenotype in the Diagnosis and Prediction of Outcomes in Cirrhosis

About this study

The purpose of this study is to define a comprehensive digital phenotype through radio signal-enabled passive environment monitoring, associated with clinical outcomes in patients with cirrhosis.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age ≥ 18 years.
  • Diagnosis of decompensated cirrhosis, defined by the presence of ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, or history of variceal bleeding within 1 year.
  • Capacity to provide consent.
  • Recent hospitalization for liver-related complications (within 7 days of enrollment).
  • Presence of adult caregiver.
  • Access to wireless internet connection at their home environment.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Estimated life-expectancy less than 30 days.
  • Hospice care.
  • Cardiac cirrhosis.
  • Inability to ambulate.
  • History of dementia.
  • History of movement disorder.
  • > 1 sleep partner.
  • Pets sleeping in bedroom.
