Assessment of Telemedicine Consultations for Kidney Transplant Patient-Clinician Communication

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of utilizing virtual nephrology clinical encounters to examine clinician perceptions of patient-clinician relationships during kidney transplantation evaluations.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria: 

  • Nephrologists within the Mayo Clinic Department of Medicine will be chosen to participate in this study based on their monthly number of telehealth appointments (= > 5 appointments).
  • Patients in line for kidney transplantation evaluations with these nephrologists will be recruited to create patient-clinician dyads.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • < 18 years of age.
