Solitary Bone Plasmacytomas to Elucidate Their Pathogenesis and Risk of Progression to Multiple Myeloma

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to obtain archived residual formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded tissue from diagnostic biopsies of solitary bone plasmacytomas for cytogenetic and proteomic testing followed by correlations to their radiographic and clinical features. Clinical, radiographic, and laboratory features of solitary bone plasmacytomas will be evaluated to determine if they can define patients at risk of rapidly progressing to multiple myeloma.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Prior biopsy-proven diagnosis of solitary bone or extramedullary plasmacytoma
  • Adequate cross-sectional imaging at the time of diagnosis of a solitary bone or extramedullary plasmacytoma with any of the following: low-dose whole-body CT skeletal survey, whole-body PET/CT, or whole-body MRI.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Evidence of bone marrow clonal plasma cells consisting of 10% or more of the marrow cellularity performed on a posterior iliac crest bone marrow aspiration/biopsy.
  • Presence of any clinical or laboratory findings consistent with a diagnosis of multiple myeloma at the time of plasmacytoma diagnosis.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.
