Amino Acid Pet for Brain Tumors

About this study

The purpose of this study is to utilize amino acid PET such as 18F-DOPA PET/CT for use in brain tumor patients. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18 and older.
  • Diagnosis of a brain tumor.
  • Indication for amino acid PET imaging, including presurgical evaluation, radiation planning, MR imaging indeterminate for progression versus treatment effect, or clinical need for enhanced monitoring.
  • Ability to give appropriate consent or have an appropriate representative available to do so.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patient is unable to undergo PET imaging.
  • Persons who are pregnant or nursing.
  • Patients who are unable to consent to the study.
  • Patients will be recruited from clinical practice by the investigators.
  • Patients must be co-enrolled in another IRB-approved protocol that either directly incorporates amino acid PET or obtains biospecimens for correlation to PET findings.
