Barriers to Achieving Diabetes Excellence in an American Indian Community in Minnesota

About this study

The purpose of this study is  to conduct a survey and focus group of individuals with diabetes and key health care stake holders in Lower Sioux American Indian community, to identify knowledge of diabetes, perceptions of therapies available for diabetes management, barriers to engaging in lifestyle modification and improving diabetes care and resource needs to improve diabetes care.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Individuals with diabetes ages 18 and over from Lower Sioux American Indian community.
  • Key health care stake holders will be identified from the community tribal council, clinic care staff and health care representatives.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • None
