Justifying Patellar Instability Treatment by Early Results

About this study

The proposed study is a multi-center prospective cohort study to determine the most effective treatment of patellar instability. The principal investigators have identified surgeons who treat a high volume of patellar instability cases at various centers across the country. Invitations to participate in the study will be extended to these surgeons, along with the original members of the JUPITER study group.
 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Documented episode of patellar dislocation (first episode or recurrent episodes).
  • Patellar Subluxation.
  • Habitual or Permanent patellar dislocation.
  • Congenital or Syndromic Patellar dislocation.
  • Previous patella instability surgery.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Non-English speaking
  • Significant developmental delays which would impact patient reported out-comes.
  • Participant’s involved knee is already enrolled in another JUPITER group study.
