• Collection of Pharmacogenomics (PGx) Results and Clinical Data of Patients in the Palliative Medicine Clinic to Assess Current and Future Therapeutic Relevance Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

  The goal of this study is to examine the current and (potential) future therapeutic relevance of PGx testing for a group of patients in order to improve patient clinical care at Mayo Clinic with more effective and efficient prescribing of medications

• Effectiveness of Palliative Care Consultation in Patients with Advanced Lung Disease Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

  The purpose of  this study is to determine the usefulness of palliative care consultations by a specialty physician and a pulmonologist for patients who have advanced lung disease.

• Symptom Assessment of Patients following Percutaneous Transesophageal Gastrostomy Tube Placement Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

  The purpose of this study is to measure the symptom response in patients with malignant bowel obstruction who have placement of a percutaneous transesophageal gastrostomy tube.

   

• The Role of the Pharmacist and Pharmacogenomics in the Care of Seriously Ill Patients Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

  The purposes of this study are to evaluate: 

  • The impact that a clinical pharmacist and pharmacogenomic testing has on symptom management;
  • Patient perceptions, satisfaction and behaviors related to their medications and their view of the helpfulness of the pharmacist,
  • The impact that a clinical pharmacist and pharmacogenomic testing has on overall cost of care; and
  • The impact that a clinical pharmacist and pharmacogenomic testing has on average cost of medications.
