The purpose of this study is to deepen our understanding of the ARDS mechanism following transplantation through an analysis of cytokines, metabolomics and proteomics before ARDS occurs, and during the early phase of ARDS development.

The purpose of this study is to develop tools to better predict which patients will be at highest risk of lung complications following bone marrow transplantation.
SMART Trial: Steroid Dosing by bioMARker-Guided Titration in Critically Ill Patients With Pneumonia Rochester, Minn.
The purpose of this study is to compare a standard steroid dosing algorithm to a novel biomarker-tailored steroid dosing algorithm for patients receiving corticosteroids for community acquired pneumonia. Patients with severe community acquired pneumonia may benefit from adjunctive corticosteroid therapy. The optimal patient selection, dosing and duration of steroids is unknown.
