Precision Clinical Trial Recruitment to Promote Cancer Health Equity Across Florida
Jacksonville, Fla.
The purpose of this study is to qualitatively examine, via individual and group interviews, a tailored intervention utilizing virtual human technology to improve communication with rural and ethnic/racial minority patients and their willingness to participate in clinical research as an ultimate means to increase the diversity of NCI-sponsored clinical trials. Virtual human technology uses computerized agents with a human-like body and naturalistic dialogue to deliver educational information and model behaviors. Virtual human technology is used in a variety of health contexts and has the potential to increase the diversity of NCI-sponsored clinical trials by reducing common barriers to NCI-sponsored clinical trials participation like cultural mismatch and knowledge gaps about clinical research.
