J&J Vaccine Booster in Transplant Recipients

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if “booster” revaccination with the Janssen Ad26.CoV2.S vaccine (JNJ-78436735, aka the J&J vaccine, a viral vector vaccine) increases anti-COVID spike protein antibody levels in solid organ transplant recipients who did not form acceptable levels of anti-COVID spike protein antibody after receiving two doses of a mRNA vaccine: Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2 vaccine) or Modena (mRNA-1273).

About this study

This study proposes to develop and maintain a biorepository of blood samples collected from patients receiving definitive chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer, locally advanced pancreatic cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, or cervical cancer. The ultimate goal of this biorepository will be to provide the resource to initiate an exploration of ctDNA as a potential liquid biopsy for GI and Thoracic malignancy detection and surveillance.

About this study

This study will compare the effectiveness of different combinations of 5 types of behavioral interventions across patient-centered outcomes. It will also evaluate which outcomes (e.g. quality of life, cognition, function, mood) matter most to people at risk for dementia and their care partners. The results of this study have the potential to direct patients, families, and health care providers as to which combinations of behavioral interventions provide the greatest potential impact on which dementia prevention outcomes. Greater use of behavioral strategies that are targeted to the outcomes of most important to the patient will likely improve patient compliance and treatment adherence. This, in turn, can lessen the need for medication, health care, and long term care utilization.
