Sleep Apnea Surgery Clinic

Mayo Clinic's sleep apnea surgery clinic, a subspecialty group within the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, studies the treatment and surgery of patients who have obstructive sleep apnea and cannot tolerate conventional therapies such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).

Investigators perform post-surgical outcomes studies using a sleep surgery database, which allows for a variety of post-surgical analyses to determine the procedures and mechanisms that best support patients' surgical success.

Sleep surgery researchers also participate in the Adherence and Outcome of Upper Airway Stimulation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea International Registry, an international hypoglossal nerve stimulator registry that allows them to engage with a diverse community and investigate diverse experiences to better understand outcomes associated with stimulator implantation.
