Eide.Jacob@mayo.edu Clinical Profile

SUMMARY

Jake G. Eide, M.D., is a rhinologist and skull base surgeon with research interests including sinonasal, skull base tumor biology and clinical outcomes. He also studies cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea diagnosis and repair and nasal polyp biology. Dr. Eide collaborates with surgeons and healthcare professionals, in multiple specialties nationwide, to research rare and poorly understood sinonasal conditions.

Focus areas

  • Sinonasal and skull base tumor outcomes. Sinonasal malignancies are challenging conditions to treat. Dr. Eide's research focuses on better defining current outcomes of sinonasal tumors following treatment and on sinonasal tumor biology with the goal of developing new treatment options.
  • Cerebrospinal fluid leaks. Dr. Eide's research focuses on increasing the accuracy of diagnostic tests for cerebrospinal fluid leaks and improving the results of skull base reconstruction. Enhancing the outcome of all types of skull base surgery is extremely challenging.
  • Nasal polyp biology. Recurrent nasal polyps remain a difficult issue for a subset of patients. Dr. Eide's research focuses on auto-immune antibodies in polyp formation and clinical outcomes of revision sinus surgery.

Significance to patient care

The goal of Dr. Eide's research is to better understand the clinical behavior and biology of complex sinonasal and skull base conditions. He strives to develop new and effective treatments for patients. Dr. Eide values a collaborative approach with other healthcare professionals to innovate and contribute to meaningful improvements in patient care.
