SUMMARY
Samip Patel, M.D., is an otolaryngologist and researcher in the Mayo Clinic Department of Otolaryngology (ENT)/Head and Neck Surgery. His research is conducted in partnership with the Head and Neck Cancer Center, where he collaborates in conducting clinical trials and outcomes-based research.
Dr. Patel's research interests include patient outcomes, surgical techniques and the novel application of free tissue transfer. He is nationally recognized for his work in mandibular and maxillary reconstruction — specifically for the use of the scapula free flap.
Dr. Patel previously practiced at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was part of a high-volume, multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team. During his tenure there, he contributed to numerous clinical trials and reviews of the treatment of head and neck cancer.
