Melissa D. Pinto, Ph.D., is a nurse scientist and the inaugural director of nursing research at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Dr. Pinto's research focuses on symptom science and symptom management. Her work focuses on discovery-based science and biobehavioral symptom models. Dr. Pinto's research is at the intersection of chronic physical health conditions and co-occurring depression and anxiety.

  • Developing new symptom management strategies, such as encompassing digital therapeutics, for patients with chronic conditions and co-occurring depression and anxiety.
  • Leveraging multimodal data and artificial intelligence to develop symptom phenotypes and personalized symptom management interventions.
