The research of Wenchun Qu, M.D., Ph.D., is dedicated to developing stem cell and gene therapy for the treatment of pain caused by degeneration of disks and joints of the spine. He directs a regenerative pain medicine research laboratory that uses novel genetic engineering technology in developing next-generation stem cells. He conducts clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of stem cell therapy for common causes of low back pain, such as degenerative disk disease and facet arthritis.
The goal of Dr. Qu's research is to develop novel stem cell and gene therapy to slow down or stop the degeneration of disks and joints. Translating findings in laboratory research to patient care through clinical trials brings hope for alleviating pain, restoring function and improving quality of life for patients.
