Facilities and Equipment

The Computer-Aided Molecular Design Laboratory of Yuan-Ping Pang, Ph.D., is located on the 12th floor of the Stabile Building on the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, Minnesota. The generous laboratory space includes these areas:

  • A computational chemistry unit (1,342 square feet)
  • A synthetic chemistry unit with 14 6-foot fume hoods (3,002 square feet)
  • A bioassay lab (88 square feet)

Equipment

The lab is well equipped to conduct chemical and biological studies using both computational and experimental methods under one roof.

Synthesis and characterization of compounds

  • Varian 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system dedicated to Dr. Pang's lab, featuring a 1H/19F/X 5 mm autotune dual broadband probe, 1H-19F[15N-31P] 3 mm indirect broadband probe, 23 channel shims and shim supply, variable temperature module, and 100-sample autosampler
  • Thermo Nicolet Avatar 370 Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR)
  • Jasco DIP-370 digital polarimeter
  • Molecular Devices SpectraMax Plus384 microplate reader

Solid-phase combinatorial chemistry using the radiofrequency-encoded split-and-pool technique
