Overview
The Digital Innovation Lab promotes advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence, also called AI. The lab partners with research programs and clinical departments across Mayo Clinic to provide expertise, processes and technology to advance innovation. Innovators can request consultations, resources and collaboration for a wide range of projects from small proof-of-concept activities to major initiatives.
Using new AI applications, Dr. Carter and his colleagues work across specialties to aid discovery and collaboration and improve patient care. The team uses its cloud-based computing technologies to expand research projects that were previously out of scope, including big data studies involving hundreds of thousands of patients. The lab also provides a supported platform to host AI models that allow new discoveries to be put to use.
