Research Projects
Our lab conducts translational and clinical research aimed at understanding the clinical impact of various infections on the outcomes of organ transplantation. Specifically, we're investigating cytomegalovirus (CMV) and its effects on patient and graft survival.
Some of our research projects include:
- Clinical predictors of CMV infection in solid organ transplantation.
- CMV-specific immune reconstitution after solid organ and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant.
- Evaluation of letermovir and maribavir to manage cytomegalovirus after transplant.
- Infectious complications after transplant.
- A clinical trial of CMV vaccine in recipients of kidney and liver transplants.
- The impact of COVID-19 on people who have had an organ transplant or are immunocompromised.
In addition to our research work on transplant-related infections, our lab also is investigating the impact of antiviral drugs and monoclonal antibodies on the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
