Mechanisms of Estrogen Action on Bone
In this research project, we're investigating mechanisms of estrogen action on bone by engaging in a series of studies that focus on better defining underlying mechanisms by which estrogen regulates bone turnover.
As part of this project, our research team is deleting estrogen receptor alpha, estrogen receptor beta, or both, in a cell- and time-specific manner using inducible, cell-specific Cre mice.
Phenotyping of the mice using microCT and histomorphometry is complemented by our methods to isolate and study specific skeletal cell populations from these mice, coupled with further in vitro studies.
