The primary aim of the study is to compare the results of an established, successful procedure, which is total hip arthroplasty through a mini-posterior approach to a less studied - increasingly popular procedure, which is total hip replacement through the direct anterior approach utilizing the orthopedic table.
What is the difference in the outcomes of patients treated with an articulating antibiotic spacer versus a static articulating spacer in the setting of two stage exchange for an infected total knee arthroplasty?
The purpose of this study is to collect 2 years of information regarding the performance of the commercially available Actis™ Total Hip replacement system in order to evaluate the clinical outcomes.
Patients undergoing a total hip arthroplasty (THA) using either a direct anterior or posterolateral approach will be asked to return to clinic 2 years following THA to evaluate their scars from the incisions. Both the Patient Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) and the Stony Brook Scar Evaluation Scale (SBSES) will be used to assess patients’ scars. The results of these evaluation scales will then be compared between the anterior and posterolateral approach cohorts.
