Gait Analysis in Aging and Neurological Disease
Rochester, Minn.
The purpose of this study is to collect gait data on patients with neurological disease as well as normal aging individuals. The gait data will be acquired using a camera and a body-worn sensor (APDM Opal). This sensor is the size of a wristwatch and can be worn using custom Velcro bands. The gait data will be assessed using machine learning algorithms to detect meaningful patterns and quantifiable variables.

Rochester, Minn.
The purpose of this study is to determine objective measures of gait and balance impairment in PSP syndromes using laboratory-based motion analysis.

Neural Mechanisms of Motor-Cognitive Impairment and Fall Risk Prediction in the Aging Population
Rochester, Minn.
The purpose of this study is to assess neural mechanism of early onset gait imbalance and falls in the aging population. The overarching hypothesis is that aging falls are caused by subclinical impairment in gait and cognition that has distinct neurological causes, and that it can be detected early using cognitive-motor dual task activities.
