Divekar.Rohit@mayo.edu Clinical Profile

SUMMARY

Rohit D. Divekar, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., researches the clinical outcomes of inflammatory airways disorders of chronic rhinosinusitis and asthma. He also is interested in mechanisms and management of chronic urticaria.

Focus Areas

  • Characterizing inflammatory airways disorders based on immune mechanisms. Dr. Divekar assesses immune signatures that can help define the inflammatory pathology driving disease processes. He attempts to translate clinical applications of novel and earlier-discovered biologic markers to subtype types of chronic sinusitis. He uses a novel medical-surgical multidisciplinary practice model in partnership with ear, nose and throat surgeons to optimize results after sinus surgery for sinusitis.
  • Characterizing inflammatory pathways in chronic urticaria. Using the principle of biomarker-based assessment, Dr. Divekar's second interest is in translating immune signatures to help patients with severely debilitated conditions due to chronic hives of urticaria.

Significance to Patient Care

Findings from clinical studies have allowed people with chronic sinusitis and chronic urticaria to be fully evaluated by healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines. Finding the underlying pathways that drive disease helps patients better understand the condition and allows healthcare professionals to choose the right medicines for the right patients.
