Shoulder and elbow surgery

A note from the division program director

The Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery provides access to a robust research program through the Gap Year Program, advancing fellows toward careers as orthopedic surgeons.

Members of our division are nationally and internationally recognized experts in the field and publish prolifically in esteemed journals.

Areas of interest include:

  • Arthroplasty of the shoulder and elbow.
  • Rotator cuff repair and salvage procedures.
  • Shoulder instability.
  • Complex elbow reconstruction.
  • Traumatic injuries to the shoulder and elbow.
  • Computer vision within artificial intelligence.

We also offer the opportunity to collaborate closely with several basic science laboratories and core facilities, including biomechanics, anatomy and joint fibrosis. The Gap Year Program fellow is mentored by a physician within our division. The fellow also organizes the logistics of research sessions and can publish studies in collaboration with our faculty members and other research trainees.

The Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery accepts one student through the Gap Year Program.
