The various locations of the Clinical Research and Trials Unit (CRTU) are complemented by a dedicated research pharmacy and nutrition research unit.

Research pharmacy

Pharmacy Research Services provides oversight and direction for use of investigational medications in the CRTU and throughout the clinic facilities at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota. The research pharmacies promote patient safety, regulatory compliance, safe conduct of human research with protocols involving investigational drugs, and expert consultation to investigators.

Nutrition Research Unit

The Nutrition Research Unit, which includes a staff of research dietitians, diet techs and a metabolic kitchen operated by dietary assistants, can plan precise diets and analyze the nutritional intakes of research participants.
