Artificial intelligence (AI)

AI — Cardiovascular

  • Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Career Development Award in Translational Research (CV) – one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years. This award is designated to the use of artificial intelligence technology and modalities in cardiovascular research. This award is restricted to individuals holding either an M.D., or an M.D. and Ph.D., or an equivalent medical degree, with an investigative focus in translational research.

AI — Neurosciences

  • Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Career Development Award in Translational Research (Neurosciences) - one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years. This award is designated to the use of artificial intelligence technology and modalities in neurology, neurosurgery, and neuropsychiatry research with a focus on sleep, aging and aging brain, pain, interaction of brain and immune system and metabolism. This award is restricted to individuals holding either an M.D., or an M.D. and Ph.D., or an equivalent medical degree, with an investigative focus in translational research.

Arizona (Research on the Mayo Clinic campus in Arizona)

  • Kathryn H. and Roger Penske Career Development Award to Support Medical Research at Mayo Clinic Arizona — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. This award is restricted to applicants at Mayo's campus in Arizona.

Cancer

  • Arnold and Kit Palmer Career Development Award in Cancer Research — two awards of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Bruce A. Chambers Career Development Award in Cancer Honoring David Dingli, M.D., Ph.D. — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. Research projects involving embryonic or fetal tissue, cloning, IVF, etc. are not allowed.
  • Eveleigh Family Career Development Award for Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic in Florida — two awards of $100,000 a year for up to three years. These awards are restricted to applicants at Mayo's campus in Florida.
  • Jay and Deanie Stein Career Development Award for Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. This award is restricted to applicants at Mayo's campus in Florida.
  • Kevin Merszei Career Development Award in Cancer Immunotherapy — one award of $50,000 a year for up to two years. Preference will be given for cellular therapeutics, such as CAR-T research projects.
  • Marion Schwartz Career Development Award in Multiple Myeloma — two awards of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Tait Shanafelt, M.D. Career Development Award in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Honoring, Neil E. Kay, M.D. — one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years.
  • Vranos Family Foundation Career Development Award in Prostate Cancer — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Vranos Family Foundation Career Development Award in Prostate Cancer — one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years.
  • Wallace and Evelyn Simmers Career Development Award for Cancer Research — two awards of $100,000 a year for up to three years.

Cardiovascular

  • Career Development Award in Cardiovascular Disease Research Honoring Dr. Earl H. Wood — two awards of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Paul and Ruby Tsai and Family Career Development Award Fund in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Research Honoring Dr. Nishimura — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. This award supports research in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy disease or pediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy disease.
  • Ted and Loretta Rogers Cardiovascular Career Development Award Honoring Hugh C. Smith, M.D. — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Thomas H. and Dorthy S. Corson Career Development Award in Cardiovascular Disease Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.

Dermatology

  • Robert S. Totz, M.D., Career Development Award in Dermatology — one award of $75,000 a year for up to three years.

Endocrinology

  • Robert and Elizabeth Strickland Career Development Award in Endocrinology, Metabolism, Diabetes and Nutrition — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. Applicants with enterprise-wide research projects in the areas of diabetes, insulin resistance and nutrition are particularly encouraged to apply.

Gastroenterology

  • Jerry A. Wenger Career Development Award in Gastroenterology Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. Applicants with projects in the area of Barrett's Esophagus and related disorders are especially encouraged to apply.

Individualized Medicine

  • Bernard J. and Nancy C. Karwick Career Development Award in Individualized Medicine — two awards of $125,000 a year for up to two years.

Integrative Medicine and Health “General Internal Medicine”

  • Career Development Award in Integrative Medicine and Health — one award of $100,000 a year for three years.
  • Investigators with projects related to acupuncture are especially encouraged to apply.

Nephrology and Hypertension

  • Fulk Career Development Award for Research in Nephrology, Glomerular Diseases and Clinical Trials — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • Robert W. Fulk CDA Fund in Nephrology Research Honoring Fernando Fervenza, M.D. — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.

Neurologic Surgery Research

  • Helene Houle Career Development Award in Neurologic Surgery Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.
  • John M. Nasseff, Sr., Career Development Award in Neurologic Surgery Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.

Neurology

  • Eugene U. and Mary F. Frey Family Career Development Award in Neurodegenerative Diseases — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. Preference will be given for novel research in the basic biology and pathogenesis of age-related neurodegenerative disease, including Alzheimer’s and related cerebrovascular diseases.
  • Johnny Allen Dyer Career Development Award in Neurology — one award of $125,000 for up to two years.
  • The Kathryn O. Greenberg Career Development Award in Neurology Honoring Robert D. Brown, Jr., M.D., M.P.H. — one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years. Preference for research related to stroke and cerebrovascular diseases.

Orthopedics

  • Career Development Award in Orthopedics Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to two years. Open to all applicants.

Public Health, Infectious Diseases & Occupational Medicine (PHIDOM)

  • Sheikh Zayed Saif Mohammad Al Nahyan Clinician Career Development Award in Infectious Diseases — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. Preference will be given to practicing clinician doing infectious diseases research, preference for pediatrics focus.

Pulmonology

  • Lucile J. Nelson Clinician Career Development Award in Pulmonary Diseases Research — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years. This award is restricted to a practicing clinician in pulmonary diseases research.

Regenerative Biotherapeutics

  • Regenerative Medicine Initiative — Career Development Award — one award of $100,000 a year for up to three years.

Rheumatology

  • Margaret Harvey Schering Clinician Career Development Award for Arthritis Research — one award of $1000,000 a year for up to three years. This award is restricted to a practicing clinician. This award is designated to the causes of and cures for arthritis.
